“Facing Us” Contests: Win Up to $1,000

Facing Us29 Cash Prizes Available! Easy to Enter!

DBSA is launching three video and art contests as part of its Facing Us campaign to highlight the “face” of bipolar disorder and depression and to supply tools to those “facing” the challenges of living with these illnesses. The video contest offers you the chance to show the world your story, through video, in the following contest categories:

  • Facing Depression
  • Facing Bipolar Disorder
  • Facing Relationships
  • Facing Recovery

Deadline is October 24, so enter now for your chance to win up to $1,000!

Video Contest
DBSA encourages you to tell your story in a 2-9 minute video, in a way that’s comfortable to you and that best expresses you personality and interests. The tone can be serious or tastefully humorous. Creativity is encouraged, so feel free to:

  • Deliver a personal monologue.
  • Tell your story in a song or poem.
  • Act out a play with friends.
  • Or, for those fine artists out there, use illustration, animation or even claymation to set the scene.

Actually, it’s very easy! Your entry can be as simple or complex as you want. But you don't have to be a film director to enter or even win this contest! Videos will be judged on the messaging and creativity, NOT the film-making ability.

Need ideas or inspiration? Visit http://www.FacingUs.org/ to view two sample videos, one featuring award-winning actress Victoria Maxwell. You could also go to YouTube.com and search through videos that have already been posted to get inspired.

Prizes
There will be one GRAND PRIZE winner of $1,000. In addition to the grand prize, one of each of the following awards will be presented to contest winners in each of the four categories:

  • 1st Prize: $400
  • 2nd Prize: $200
  • 3rd Prize: $100

Art and PSA Contests
If you're more interested in painting/drawing, there is a related art contest as well. Or, if you are a film student, you can participate in a separate contest to develop a formal public service announcement (PSA). Learn more about all three of the contests (video, art and PSA) at http://www.FacingUs.org/.
