DBSA Launches the Promoting Education, Empowerment, Resilience, and Stability (PEERS) Campaign

The Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance is in its 25th year of providing hope for people living with mood disorders. To have been in existence for 25 years is a testimony to the vision of DBSA's founders, who recognized that the lived experience of recovering from a mental illness has intrinsic power and value. We—who have faced debilitating illnesses and found ways to treat and cope with them—have the ability to educate others and empower them to face their own, unique roads to recovery.

To have operated for 25 years is also a sign of resilience: the strength and adaptability that allow us to get through troubled and tumultuous times. Resilience represents the power to weather and withstand challenges, threats, damage, and setbacks that all of us will face from time to time.

We ask you to act now and become part of the PEERS Campaign. Please make as generous a gift as you can. Encourage your friends, family, loved ones, and community—anyone among the millions of people touched by mood disorders—to join you in that support. Be part of DBSA's national coalition of allies who believe that DBSA must survive this current crisis and emerge a stable, thriving organization.

Read more about the PEERS Campaign. DBSA needs you, our peers, now more than ever!

SPEAK and Be Heard… Living With Depression Contest Urges Individuals to Serve as Role Models by Sharing Their Stories of Success

DBSA has partnered with AstraZeneca to launch SPEAK and Be Heard…Living With Depression. The contest encourages people with depressive symptoms of bipolar disorder and major depressive disorder to share their stories of success through a variety of creative mediums. Submissions are now being accepted and finalists, selected by judges from patient, advocacy, healthcare, literary, film, music and art communities, will have the opportunity to inspire people living with unresolved symptoms of depression.

Stories can be submitted online at www.SpeakAboutDepression.com in the form of an essay, song, art, poetry, or video. To qualify, essay, song, and poem submissions must be received by August 13; and art and video submissions by September 10.

Share hope when you share your story at www.speakaboutdepression.com.
