Nominations for the Welcome Back Awards Deadline is November 16, 2009
The Welcome Back Awards program recognizes outstanding achievements in the fight against depression and the stigma often associated with the illness. An independent panel of national mental health experts will select honorees in five categories: lifetime achievement, destigmatization, community service, primary care and psychiatry. Winners will share a total of $55,000, to be donated to the not-for-profit organizations of their choice. Each award recipient and one guest will receive complimentary airfare and accommodations to attend the ceremony in New Orleans, LA in May 2010.

Eli Lilly established the Welcome Back Awards in 1998 to fight the stigma associated with depression and to promote the understanding that depression is treatable. Over the past 11 years, Lilly has donated more than $430,000 to charity on behalf of 58 Welcome Back Award winners.
National Survivors of Suicide Day Saturday, November 21, 2009 This day of healing for those who are bereaved after suicide was created by U.S. Senate resolution in 1999 through the efforts of Sen. Harry Reid of Nevada, who lost his father to suicide. Every year, AFSP sponsors an event to provide an opportunity for the survivor community to come together on this day for support, healing, and information.
Simultaneous conferences for survivors of suicide loss will take place throughout the U.S. and internationally. For those who don't live near a conference site or who find it difficult to attend in person, the 90-minute broadcast will also be available live on the AFSP website from 1-2:30 pm, Eastern Standard Time, with a live online chat immediately following the program.

Touched By Fire art show and sale November 26th 2009 ROYAL ONTARIO MUSEUM
The live exhibit will be held as a single night event this year at the Royal Ontario Museum the evening of November 26th, 2009. Because of space limitations, our judges will select between 50 and 70 works for this art gallery display. However, all submissions will be mounted on our on-line gallery, and sales can be completed online or at the live show in November. Everyone is welcome to attend the live show.
