DBSA Peer Specialist Continuing Education (CE) Program

DBSA is one of the nation’s leading providers of peer specialist (CPS) training and certification. Delivered in affiliation with Appalachian Consulting Group, Inc.—founders of the groundbreaking Georgia Certified Peer Specialist Project—DBSA training orients students to a recovery philosophy and a solid array of competencies, preparing individuals to use peer-delivered services to support recovery of others.

COURSE FORMAT

All DBSA Peer Specialist continuing education courses are offered through an interactive live webinars that include a formal presentation followed by Q&A, where participants will be able to ask questions of the presenters and react to comments by other students. Following each event, an online course will also be available on the DBSA Recovery Education Center under the CPS menu for those unable to attend a live webinar.

COURSE REGISTRATION

Live Webinar Courses
Two week advance registration is required for live webinar events.

Online Self-Studay Courses
Registration for posted online courses is available at the time the course is taken.

COURSE FEES

The cost for both the live webinar and online courses is $75/course per attendee. Please note that both the live webinar courses and the online courses involve a one-person-one-account registration process. Each account is tied to a specific e-mail address. CE credit is provided only to the individual associated with the registered e-mail.

CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDITS

In accord with federal Medicaid reimbursement guidelines released in 2007, many states and organizations are making continuing education from a recognized training provider a requirement to maintain CPS certification and/or employment. 1.5 CE credits will be awarded by DBSA for each 90-minute course.
