Featuring:
Julie A. Fast
Rebecca's Dream LogoSponsored by Rebecca's Dream

Family support is crucial to recovery for those living with mood disorders; however, supporting a loved one with depression or bipolar disorder isn’t easy. As a consumer, it’s important to educate family members about your illness, ask for help when you need it and let them know what helps and what hurts. And it’s important, as a family member, to learn the facts about mood disorders, take care of yourself and let your loved one know you’re there to listen and help in the recovery process. This institute will offer guidelines, for both consumers and their families, to foster the communication and understanding that creates a supportive environment. More information.

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 12, 8:00 am to 11:00 am
Common Ground with Pat Deegan, PhD
Choice, self-determination, hope and the importance of human relationships … these are all recovery values that Dr. Deegan has been helping mental health professionals to develop and put into daily practice. In this institute, she’ll discuss what she has learned through this work about how consumers and providers can work together to find the “common ground” that leads to recovery-oriented outcomes and truly shared decision-making.
