CRSS Next Steps Peer Specialist Training
Brought to you by SAMHSA Recovery to Practice initiative, the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance (DBSA) and the Illinois Department of Human Services/Division of Mental Health (DHS/DMH).
What is Next Steps?
Next Steps is continuing education for peer specialists developed under the SAMHSA Recovery to Practice initiative. This highly-interactive course is based on a collaborative learning approach that offers participants hands-on opportunities to strengthen their skills and connection to principles of peer support.
Certificates for 8 hours of peer specialist continuing education (2 hours pre-work + 6 hours on April 7) will be awarded to participants fully completing the course. Application pending with Illinois Certification Board, Inc.
Participants must commit to:
- Complete pre-course self-study curriculum (approx. 2 hours) before April 7, 2016
- Fully participate in all 6 hours of on-site training
- Complete a pre- and post-test to demonstrate course participation and subject mastery
Who can apply to participate?
Individuals who are currently CRSS-certified or who anticipate being certified in six months or less. Please do NOT apply if you do not meet this description.

$20.00 (includes CE certificate). A portion of the fee will be allocated for support of the 2016 Region 1 DHS/DMH Recovery Conference.
