Become an Advocate
DBSA Advocacy Center
Advocacy is rooted in rights and the democratic tradition of equality. Federal and state laws shape our world in countless ways, every minute of the day. The roads we drive on, the food we eat, the healthcare we receive and the very air we breathe all are affected by state, federal and local laws and ordinances. You’ve heard the saying, “There’s nothing certain except death and taxes.” Well there are even laws on how we leave this earth.
The Constitution of the United States is one of the most revered documents in human history. The system of democratic government shaped under that document has been extraordinarily successful and adaptable.
It has been so successful because it is a system, a process, NOT an inactive institution. At heart, it is a participatory process.
In this site we will discuss the ins and outs of the legislative process, how you can be an advocate, provide you with tips on effective advocacy and even discuss the legislation DBSA supports. Let’s begin.
